Units from the Saudi Armed Forces are participating in the multinational EFES-2024 military exercise in Izmir, Republic of Türkiye along with other brotherly and friendly countries.

The Saudi military units participating in the exercise arrived in Türkiye and were received by high-ranking army officers, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Head of the Armed Forces Training and Development Authority, Major General Adel Al-Balawi, underscored that the participation of Saudi military units in EFES-2024 comes within the support and keenness of the Kingdom’s leadership to enhance the capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces.

He said the exercise aims to exchange expertise, train on planning and coordinating joint operations in a different operational environment, raise the combat efficiency of the participating units, and enhance military cooperation between the participating countries.

He further explained that the military units will carry out land and sea Special Forces operations using various modern weapons.

The EFES-2024 Exercise, led by the Aegean Army Command in Türkiye, includes a Computer-Assisted Command Post Exercise from April 25 to May 8, followed by a Live-Firing Field Exercise from May 10-30.

The EFES-2024 Unified, Joint, Computer-Aided Command Post Exercise, which started on April 25 in the Turkish province of Izmir, concluded with Distinguished Observer Day on Wednesday.

The Aegean Army Command Unified Joint Warfare Headquarters hosted an exercise for the day involving participants from various military commands, ministries, public institutions, and civil society organizations, according to Türkiye’s Anadolu Agency (AA).

The unified and joint operation aimed to enhance military capabilities and war readiness among 508 personnel, including 181 foreigners from 34 countries, covering assigned tasks.

Following a briefing on the exercise’s scenario and content, the commanders toured the headquarters.

This year Istanbul Multinational Joint Warfare Center Command successfully managed EFES’ computer-aided command post-exercise phase for the first time.

Starting Friday, the actual firing field phase of the exercise is due to be held at Izmir’s Doganbey Firing and Exercise Area through May 30.
