Pasquale Di Bartolomeo (photo) has been appointed Managing Director of MBDA Italia, replacing Antonio Perfetti who recently left the company. Pasquale will keep his existing responsibilities as Executive Group Director for Strategy, a position he assumed on joining the company in September 2011. Prior to joining MBDA and as of 1995, he had held several positions of responsibility within the Leonardo-Finmeccanica group.
Dave Armstrong, currently Executive Group Director Technical, has been appointed Executive Group Director for Sales and Business Development. Dave, who joined BAe Dynamics a forerunner of MBDA in 1984, keeps his existing responsibilities as Managing Director of MBDA UK, a role he has carried out since April 2015 having been previously Group Director for the Meteor program.
Gianni Bongianni, Group Director Weapon System Programs since March 2013 after having been Director of Aster Missile Systems Programs, will replace Dave Armstrong as Executive Group Director Technical. Gianni’s whole career since it commenced in 1981, has been spent with MBDA and, before its creation, with companies that would eventually go on to form the group as it now stands.
The appointment of Pasquale is with immediate effect. Those of Dave and Gianni will come into effect as of 1st November 2016.
With a significant presence in five European countries and within the USA, in 2015 MBDA achieved a turnover of € 2.9 billion with an order book of € 15.1 billion. With more than 90 armed forces customers in the world, MBDA is a world leader in missiles and missile systems.
MBDA is the only European group capable of designing and producing missiles and missile systems that correspond to the full range of current and future operational needs of the three armed forces (land, sea and air). In total, the group offers a range of 45 missile systems and countermeasures products already in operational service and more than 15 others currently in development.
MBDA is owned jointly by Airbus Group (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%), and Leonardo-Finmeccanica (25%).
