American Science and Engineering, Inc. (AS&E), a leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray detection solutions, announced that it has received orders for a total of ten ZBV® mobile screening systems.
 
The orders were placed by customers in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, South America, and North America, who will use the ZBV cargo and vehicle screening systems for checkpoint security, high-threat facility security, law enforcement, and border security.

“We've worked hard to develop the opportunity pipeline for our ZBV platform - growing in key international regions and across application markets - and we're seeing the positive results,” said Chuck Dougherty, AS&E's President and CEO.
 
“We continue to gain new customers for our market-leading ZBV systems, reaching over 650 systems sold around the world. The ZBV system is an essential tool for rapid explosive and contraband detection and our global customer base is taking note of the detection results,” he added.

Representing a breakthrough in X-ray detection technology, AS&E's ZBV system is the number one selling cargo and vehicle inspection system on the market, with more than 650 systems sold to 128 different customers in 59 countries. The ZBV system is a low-cost, highly mobile screening system built into a commercially available delivery van. It allows for immediate deployment in response to security threats, and its high throughput capability facilitates rapid inspections. The ZBV system employs leading-edge technologies covered by numerous patents, in-force and pending, around the world.

The ZBV system is used by government agencies, border authorities, military bases, law enforcement departments, and security agencies worldwide, including: U.S. Customs and Border Protection on multiple borders; Abu Dhabi Customs to safeguard borders; NATO Communications and Information Agency at military checkpoints; Bulgaria Customs to combat trade fraud on borders; Dutch Customs Administration to scan empty airplanes; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect a high-level facility; the Port of Venice to perform rapid inspections of suspect vehicles; Tunisian Customs to combat trade fraud; an Asian Port Authority to provide customs security; and the Democratic Republic of Congo to fight the illegal export of timber. The U.S. government has deployed hundreds of ZBV systems for homeland security and force protection applications to detect vehicle borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs), drugs, stowaways, and other contraband in war zones and military bases and at U.S. ports and borders.
