The Board of Directors of RUAG has chosen Andreas Berger as the new CEO of RUAG Defence. He has already been managing the division on an ad interim basis since October 2017 and is now taking over this role permanently from 1 march 2018.
Andreas Berger (58) is an electrical engineer who started his career with RUAG in 2010. Until 2017, he was Senior Vice President at RUAG Defence with operational and strategic responsibility for the management of the Network Enabled Operations Services business unit.
The core business of RUAG Defence includes products and services for tracked and wheeled vehicles, realistic training for soldiers and reliable information and communication infrastructures, as well as protection solutions to counter ballistic and electromagnetic threats. Its comprehensive portfolio also covers maintenance, operation and integration of relevant systems and innovative upgrades for these systems.
RUAG develops and markets internationally sought-after technology applications in the fields of aerospace, security and defence for use on land, in the air and in space. 57% of RUAG’s products and services are destined for the civil market and 43% for the military market.
The Group is headquartered in Bern (Switzerland). It has production sites in Switzerland and in 13 other countries in Europe, the USA and Asia-Pacific. Around 8,700 employees - of whom 430 are trainees - represent 48 nationalities and generate sales of some CHF 1.86 billion.
