The Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) adopted a unanimous decision to reelect its President Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation, for a new one-year mandate as ASD President (2019-2020).

The reelection took place on 28 May 2019 on the occasion of the annual ASD Spring Convention, hosted this year by the Spanish association TEDAE and held in Toledo and Madrid, Spain.

“It is an honor to be re-elected as President of the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe. This Association plays a key role in supporting and promoting strong and competitive development of aeronautics, space, defence and security industries for Europe,” stated Mr. Trappier.

“More than ever, at this important moment in the evolution of Europe, I am determined to show the pioneering and strategic role our industries play in strengthening the security of our citizens and in developing growth, in the framework of a reinforced strategic European autonomy,” he added.

“These industries are a powerful indicator of the skills, leadership, innovation and cross-border cooperation that makes these important sectors competitive in highly developed worldwide markets,” he noted.

“In my capacity as President of the Association, I will strive for ASD to continue to consolidate the success in civil aviation, promote from a European perspective the definition of effective standards at the global level within ICAO, especially in the environmental field, continue and deepen efforts in the field of European defence with the aim to strengthening the capability footprint and the competitiveness of our industry, and support the efforts of the space sector in order to prepare for the next ESA ministerial Conference,” Trappier concluded.

ASD is the voice of European Aeronautics, Space, Defence and Security Industries, actively promoting and supporting the competitive development of the sector by advocating common positions towards European Institutions and International organisations.
