To do this PIRIOU has set up “PIRIOU MCO”, a subsidiary devoted to the development of the business and to which the company transfers its current ISS contracts. To date, PIRIOU’s ISS business comprises contracts performed by PIRIOU NAVAL SERVICES (PNS), the group’s naval repair yard in France. Under such contracts, PNS carries out works in Brest or Concarneau using its own workforce.
PIRIOU MCO complements the activities of PNS by offering In-Service Support to existing or potential customers through the group’s industrial sites or its partners’ shipyards, without preference, to provide the best possible solution.
This approach will give PIRIOU MCO access to new markets that the group’s Concarneau site cannot satisfy because of either its location on the northwest tip of France or its limited technical capacity (vessels no longer than 120 m).
Already supplying maintenance services to training ships since 2011 and the ships of Brest Naval Base since 2013, PIRIOU, through PIRIOU MCO, will be bidding for all tenders relating to Naval Support Command, including those for ships based at Toulon or outside France, as well as ships of intermediate size (up to 150 m long) which PIRIOU has previously been unable to accommodate because of technical restrictions at its Concarneau site.
PIRIOU MCO will also be offering its services to operators of civilian vessels and military navies outside France.
Last but not least, this new subsidiary will also manage after-sales services for vessels designed and built by PIRIOU in France and Asia. To do this, PIRIOU MCO will be able to draw on the resources of the group’s international network of shipyards (Algeria, France, Nigeria, Vietnam).
Vincent Faujour, Managing Director of PIRIOU Services, said: “Over the last ten years we have gained, thanks to France’s military navy, expertise in managing the service time of the vessels entrusted to us.
Customer satisfaction has encouraged us to develop these services in new locations and for larger ships and, thanks to partnerships with external shipyards, we are now able to broaden the scope of our naval repair services.
Supplying services relating to the operation of vessels is a growing market, not least because it is increasingly included in our naval construction projects. So now we are making ISS a business in its own right, a business we can develop rapidly thanks to a dedicated team with dedicated resources.”
PIRIOU MCO is part of the PIRIOU Services Division and based in Concarneau (France).
