Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Algerian Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense chaired last week, at the People’s Palace, the ceremony of awarding ranks and medals to a number of General Officers and Senior Officers, on the eve of the commemorative festivities of the 62nd anniversary of independence and the recovery of national sovereignty.
At the start of this ceremony, General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of the People’s National Army (PNA) Staff, delivered a speech in which he wanted, first of all, to express his warm thanks to Mr. President of the Republic for personally presiding over this ceremony which constitutes an opportunity to honor the executives of the Ministry of National Defense, for the efforts deployed, with responsibility and skill, in the accomplishment of their missions.
“At first glance, it is a pleasure for me to express, in my personal name and on behalf of all the personnel of the PNA, my sincere thanks and my deep gratitude, to the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, for being kind enough to personally preside over the ceremony of awarding ranks and medals to the executives of the People’s National Army.
The General further stressed that the permanent support provided by the President of the Republic to the military institution can only strengthen the determination of its executives and personnel to continue the process of development and modernization of the military apparatus defense, the Algerian Ministry of National Defense said in a statement.
Subsequently, the President of the Republic decorated General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army with the Medal of Bravery of the National People’s Army, before proceeding in the company of the General Chief of People’s National Army Staff and the Commander of the Republican Guard, to the presentation of ranks and medals to a number of General Officers, Senior Officers and similar civilian personnel.
In another development, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Algerian Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence presided over the annual graduation ceremonies at the level of the training establishments of the People’s National Army.
The event took place on Monday, 1st July, 2024, at the Cherchell Military Academy “the late President Houari Boumediene”, and covered the annual graduation ceremony of the 55th promotion of basic training, the 17th promotion of common basic military training and the 8th promotion of Officers from the Master cycle.
Mr. President of the Republic was welcomed, at the main entrance of the Academy, by the General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, accompanied by Major General Ali Sidane, Commander of the 1st Military Region and Major General Salmi Bacha, Commander of the Cherchell Military Academy.
The Algerian President listened to the national anthem and received the honors rendered by the different formations of the Forces of People’s National Army, to then render the salute to the welcoming delegation, namely the General, Commander of the Republican Guard, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense and the Force Commanders and the National Gendarmerie.
At the entrance to the Academy, Mr. President of the Republic observed a moment of contemplation in tribute to the late President “Houari Boumediene” whose name is borne by the Military Academy of Cherchell, to then lay a wreath of flowers on the commemorative stele and recite the Fatiha on one’s pure soul, before following a presentation on the Academy, the training course provided and the outgoing promotions.
At the parade ground, the President of the Republic chaired the graduation ceremony for new promotions for the 2023-2024 school year, at the start of which he spent time in reviewed the squares of the military formations aligned at the parade ground, before the General, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, delivered a speech in which he thanked Mr. President of the Republic for supervising the graduation ceremony for promotions from the Cherchell Military Academy, coinciding with the festivities commemorating the 62nd anniversary of Independence and the recovery of national sovereignty.
For his part, the Commander of the Cherchell Military Academy, stressed that the Academy is today experiencing the release of a new elite of executives from the People's National Army who have benefited from scientific military training of quality, shaped by exemplary military conduct and imbued with patriotism, strong determination and self-sacrifice in the service of the Nation, which makes them capable of carrying out their future missions with merit and aptitude.
After the taking of the oath by the graduated promotions, the President of the Republic proceeded to award the grades and diplomas to the first winners of the promotions, by presenting the diploma to the valedictorian of the Master cycle, then the rank of Deputy. Lieutenant and the sword of the Academy to the valedictorian of Basic Training. He also presented the diploma to the valedictorian of the Common Basic Military Training from sister and friendly countries, before inviting the delegation accompanying him to present the diplomas and grades to the other laureates.
