Last month, Russia and Bahrain signed an agreement on military cooperation during a visit of the Head of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) to the Persian Gulf Kingdom.
“The talks between FSMTC's Head and state arms exporter Rosoboronexport's Director General, who was a part of the delegation, and the Bahrain party were fruitful and the further extension of cooperation in military-technical sphere is expected,” Garaev told RIA Novosti.
He added that Russia has similar agreements with other Gulf States, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
In summer 2014, Rosoboronexport’s Head confirmed that Moscow and Manama had signed a deal on the purchase of a Russian-made Kornet-EM anti-tank guided missile system (photo) and on the training of the Bahrain military. The system is expected to be delivered in 2015.
