His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Armed Forces, received General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the United States Central Command, at the Al Safriya Palace Sunday.

His Majesty welcomed General Kurilla and expressed Bahrain's pride in its long-standing historical ties and robust strategic partnership with the United States. His Majesty said those relations were built on decades of mutual respect and keenness to achieve common goals.

His Majesty lauded the pivotal role of the United States in consolidating international peace and security, noting the efforts of General Kurilla in further developing the Bahraini-American defensive and security cooperation as allied countries.

During the meeting, His Majesty King and the Commander of the US Central Command exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

In another development, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Interior Minister, received last week Commodore Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al Sabah, Kuwait’s Director-General of Coast Guard.

Major-General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Deputy Chief of Public Security, attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed means to promote cooperation in maritime and develop joint work.

The Minister praised the solid deep-rooted Bahraini-Kuwaiti ties led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Amir of Kuwait.

He highlighted the importance of joint efforts to promote cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise between the Coast Guards of both countries to maintain maritime safety and security.

Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah said the Coast Guard has utilised advanced technological and training methods to ensure a safe maritime environment.
