Egypt Center for Medical Research & Regenerative Medicine, US Navy’s NAMRU-3 Sign MoU

Within the framework of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ keenness to exchange scientific expertise and support research activities between the Armed Forces and the various research entities, the Egypt Center for Medical Research and Regenerative Medicine (ECRRM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US Navy Medical Research Unit “NAMRU- 3”.

The MoU aims to achieving fruitful cooperation that contributes to the implementation of joint research projects between the two sides to contribute to the study of endemic and infectious diseases with an advanced scientific perspective to confront these diseases with the aim of improving the health of citizens and maintaining their safety.

Major General Dr. Khaled Amer, Director of ECRRM, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees. He also indicated the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to support the research field on advanced scientific bases in line with the vision of the modern Egyptian state to achieve a strong addition in the field of developing the medical sector, health and treatment care, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Navy Captain / Virginia Blackman, Commander of the Medical Research Unit of the US Navy, delivered a speech in which she expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Egyptian side in the scientific research system, which witnessed great development during the recent times, praising the cooperation between both sides to provide full-fledged research studies through careful follow-up of endemic and infectious diseases.

Major General Doctor Eid Al-Taweel, Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Medical Education and Prosthetic Devices, delivered a speech during which he conveyed the greetings and appreciation of General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, and Lieutenant General Osama Askar, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, to the audience.

He indicated the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences between research bodies to develop the field of studying endemic and infectious diseases to find out their causes and follow the scientific foundations to confront them and reduce their severity.
