The Main Search and Rescue Center of the Egyptian Armed Forces conducted exercise “Egypt-9”, Which included the implementation of a realistic scenario for the rescue of the crew and passengers of a ship that caught fire, following all international maritime distress and safety procedures, while sailing off the Egyptian coast in the area of Port Said Governorate.
Elements from the Navy, Air Force, relevant authorities from a number of ministries and executive bodies in Port Said Governorate, and the Egyptian Red Crescent participated in the exercise.
The National Emergency and Public Safety Network was used for the first time in the implementation of the exercise, which connects all state institutions to ensure rapid response and mitigation of disasters and emergencies, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The exercise aims to monitor the readiness and coordination between all executive bodies and stakeholders in the state to face such risks. The Main Search and Rescue Center of the Armed Forces works with all stakeholders to implement immediate response concerning reports of human life being in danger, reaching all inaccessible areas to rescue the injured, evacuate victims, and provide medical and administrative support to them.
Exercise “Egypt-9” is a confirmation of the General Command of the Armed Forces to cooperating with all the state stakeholders and institutions to face all risks and crises, the statement stressed.
In another development, Egypt’s Military Technological College received a delegation from the Beijing Information Technology College, to learn about the latest facilities and advanced study system in use at the college.
Major General Akram Salah El-Din Mahmoud, Director of the Military Technological College, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the guests. He also pointed out the General Command of the Armed Forces' keenness to support all aspects of updating and developing the college's educational system, so that it can keep pace with the rapid development in various specialized scientific fields.
The delegation watched a documentary about the college, which is one of the most important educational institutions in the Armed Forces, with its human capabilities, training facilities, and advanced scientific equipment in various specializations. They also conducted a tour of a number of study laboratories.
At the end of the visit, the visitors expressed their gratitude for what they saw of the advanced level at the Military Technological College, which reflects the Armed Forces' keenness to raise the scientific level in all of its educational institutions and to use it to serve the country.
