Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief Receives British Minister of Defense

General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, met with Mr. Grant Shapps, British Defense Minister, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, as well as bilateral relations, common interests, and the exchange of expertise between the Armed Forces of both sides, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces expressed his pride in the long-standing relations between the two friendly countries in various fields, pointing out the importance of coordinating visions and joint efforts to avoid the ongoing escalation and support efforts for security and stability in the region.

For his part, British Defense Minister Shapps praised Egypt's active role in its regional environment, especially in light of the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip and its implications for regional and international security and stability.
