General Abdel Mageed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Minister of Defense and Military Production, met with Mr. Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, and President of the European Union’s Council of Defense, along with his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Egypt. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Defense’s headquarter.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation with the European Union in various areas of mutual interest, as well as discussing several regional and international issues, including the current situation in the Gaza Strip and its impact on security and stability in the region.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, several Commanders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and a number of representatives from the European Union attended the meeting, the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
In another development, the Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, witnessed the execution of the main phase of the Specialized Strategic Operational Command Centers exercise for the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, which lasted for several days. Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as the commanders of the main branches and several senior Armed Forces attended the event.
Major General Ahmed Al-Azzazi, Chief of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, delivered a speech highlighting the commitment of the Armed Forces leadership to provide full support to the Engineering Authority to maintain constant combat readiness and high technical efficiency.
The main phase included a presentation of the strategic operational concept of the exercise, along with plans and studies that demonstrated the high combat readiness of all participating personnel.
At the beginning of the exercise, General Abdel Mageed Saqr conveyed the greetings and appreciation of President/ Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to the personnel of the Engineering Authority. He discussed with several leaders participating in the exercise the methods of executing their tasks, their proficiency in these tasks, and their ability to make appropriate decisions in response to sudden changes during mission execution according to their various specialties, praising the outstanding performance and training of the participating personnel.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, had witnessed one of the exercise phases, which included the presentation of reports and decisions for the participating personnel during various stages of the exercise. He also discussed with several leaders and officers their assigned tasks and imposed a number of sudden tactical scenarios to ensure their ability to make correct decisions during operations management.
