Units from the Egyptian and Saudi Armed Forces continued to carry out activities as part of the “El-Sahm El-Thaqib” joint exercise, which spans several days across the Southern Military Zone, the Southern Fleet operational theatre in the Red Sea, and several air bases in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The exercise included various practical activities focused on planned objectives aimed at standardizing combat concepts and exchanging training expertise among the participating forces. Paratrooper and Ranger units conducted air assaults and raids on critical targets to neutralize terrorist elements. Marine Special Forces carried out coastal strike missions to eliminate hostile forces and secure the area.

Additionally, participating forces executed both standard and atypical firing exercises, showcasing advanced combat training techniques, accuracy, and professionalism in engaging targets from different firing positions, the Egptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Future stages of the exercise will include joint air sorties focusing on air combat operations management to strike enemy targets, involving multi-role fighter formations from both sides. Additionally, various naval activities will take place, including planning and executing joint operations to counter maritime threats, with participation from both Egyptian and Saudi naval assets.

This training is part of the ongoing joint exercise plan between the Egyptian Armed Forces and those of brotherly and friendly nations.\

In another development, the Egyptian Border Guard Forces, in coordination with the main branches of the Armed Forces and operational formations, have successfully delivered effective strikes against criminal elements and smugglers, thwarting plots and attempts aimed at undermining Egypt’s national security across all strategic directions.

The Border Guard Forces confiscated large quantities of hashish, hydro, opium, cocaine, strox, and narcotic pills, along with several acres of hydro plants. This was achieved through intensified security and inspection operations at ferries, tunnels, roads, and various routes, the Ministry said in a separate statement.

Furthermore, the Forces seized various firearms and ammunition of different calibers, and disrupted multiple attempts at illegal gold prospecting through a series of raids and joint patrols.

The Border Guard Forces also thwarted attempts at illegal immigration and infiltration by individuals of various nationalities across the country’s strategic borders. They confiscated large quantities of goods that had not been cleared through customs in preemptive strikes against infiltrators and smugglers, achieved through intensified patrols and checkpoints along roads and paths leading to international borders.
