The Iraqi Minister of Defense, Thabet Muhammad Saeed Al-Abbasi, recently conducted an inspection visit to several projects affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.
The visit included the rehabilitation project of the Military Accounts Directorate building at Sahat Al-Tahariyat, as well as projects for the construction of a cancer screening building and an MRI building at Al-Hussein Military Hospital.
This visit was part of the Minister’s ongoing efforts to monitor progress and oversee the development of military and medical facilities affiliated with the Ministry.
Earlier, as part of the government program set by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and in continuation of the reconstruction and development campaign for military institution headquarters, the Iraqi Minister of Defense also visited the Military College in Al-Rustamiyah (photo).
The Minister conducted a field tour during which he reviewed various sections and facilities of the college to follow up on the comprehensive reconstruction campaign he had previously announced. This effort aims to present the College in a manner befitting a reputable military institution and to reflect a civilized image of the Iraqi Army’s facilities.
In another development, the Iraqi Army Chief of Staff, Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, attended a conference to discuss the Ministry of Defense’s cybersecurity strategy for the years 2025-2030 at the Directorate of Planning.
The conference was held in the presence of the Deputy Chiefs of Staff, the Inspector General, branch Commanders, the President of the Defense University for Higher Military Studies, the President of the Academy, and the Director of Military Intelligence.
The conference included a briefing on the cybersecurity strategy aimed at defining goals related to protecting sensitive data, information, and digital resources from threats.
Mechanisms to achieve the highest levels of security for the Ministry’s military systems and networks were also discussed, along with efforts to enhance defensive capabilities and develop rapid response readiness to achieve cyber superiority. (Source & Photo © Iraq’s Ministry of Defense)
