The Chief of the Iraqi Army General Staff General Abdulamir Yarallah (photo) and accompanying delegation arrived in the Saudi capital Riyadh Tuesday.
The delegation is set to discuss fraternal relations binding the two countries and means to promote them, especially, in the military domains and to exchange expertise among the armed forces of the two countries.
At King Salman Air Base, the Iraqi general was received by his Saudi counterpart Gen. Fayyad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, stressed the importance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq relations.
This came during a virtual meeting held Tuesday between HRH the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.
HRH the Crown Prince stressed the importance of this meeting, praising the important and deep ties between the two countries.
HRH the Crown Prince said, "The two countries are neighboring, we are all Arabs, we follow the same religion, we have the same interests, the same challenges, and I am very happy to develop working with you and with Iraq."
HRH the Crown Prince, conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Saudi people to the brotherly Iraqi people.
In another development, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense, received Wednesday in Riyadh the United States Special Representative for Iran Elliott Abrams.
The meeting discussed cooperation between the two countries to strengthen the region's stability and deal with threats to its security in a way that achieves common interests, within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Military Advisor to the Minister of Defense Major General Eng. Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi; Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber; and Director General of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Defense Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif.
It was also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia John Abizaid and the delegation accompanying the U.S Special Representative.
