Lebanese Army Commander Receives French Armed Forces Minister

Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, on Friday received at his Yarzeh office, visiting Minister of the French Armed Forces, Florence Parly, Minister of the French Armed Forces, accompanied by French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, and French Military Attaché Colonel Fabrice Chapelle.

Discussions reportedly touched on the aid offered by the French authorities to Lebanon to overcome the repercussions of the catastrophic blast at the Port of Beirut, Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported.

Minister of the French Armed Forces, Florence Parly, has arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut on Thursday. Lebanon’s Caretaker Minister of National Defense, Zeina Akar, and French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, welcomed the French Minister at the Airport. 

Major General Aoun also met with a Russian delegation Headed by the Deputy Minister for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters, General Chupriyan Alexander, in the presence of Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, and Military Attaché Colonel Alexander Milovidov.

Discussions touched on the Russian aid offered to Lebanon to overcome the repercussions of the catastrophic blast at the Beirut Port.

The Army Commander also met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jan Kubis, with the general situation in the country featuring on their talks.
