Activities of the joint Oman-Britain military exercise codenamed “Magic Carpet 2023” concluded at the drill zone in the Governorate of Dhofar Thursday.
The drill was run by the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) and the British Royal Air Force, with support from the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the Sultan’s Special Force (SSF).
The drill included executing joint training air operations within the framework of joint cooperation and sharing military expertise between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
In another development, General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office received in Muscat Thursday Commodore Shahram Irani, Commander of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, the two sides touched on areas of joint cooperation and means of enhancing them. They also reviewed the march of historic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The two sides also discussed several regional and international matters of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and the Ambassador of Iran to Oman.
For his part, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) also received in his office at Al Murtafa’a Garrison the visiting Commander of the Iranian Navy.
Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) was present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several military matters of mutual interest. They also reviewed various areas of mutual cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Mantheri, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, several senior officers, Ambassador of Iran to Oman and the Military Attaché of Iran’s embassy at Muscat.
Lastly, the Commander of the Iranian Navy visited the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) Museum where he was greeted by several senior officers.
The guest was briefed on SAF’s development. He also toured various halls of the museum.
