The Omani-US Joint Military Committee held its 17th meeting at Al Murtafaa Garrison in Muscat Tuesday.
The Omani side was chaired by Dr. Mohammed Nassir Al Za’abi, Secretary General at the Ministry of Defence, while the US side was chaired by Daniel Shapiro, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East.
The meeting discussed a set of topics listed on the agenda and was attended by a number of Senior Officers at the Ministry of Defence and the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF). The US ambassador-designate to Oman and some US officials also attended the meeting, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
Furthermore, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Middle East and his accompanying delegation also visited the Maritime Security Center (MSC).
Upon their arrival at the MSC, members of the US delegation were received by Commodore Adil Hamoud Al Busaidi, Head of the MSC.
They were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment.
They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.
