The Royal Army of Oman (RAO) and units from the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan implemented Monday the practical demonstration of the Omani-Pakistani joint drill “Mountain Lynx 1”.
The event was held under the auspices of Major General Mattar Salim Al Balushi, Commander of RAO, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The stages of the demo reflected the participating units’ ability to operate in full harmony and implement the drawn-up plans and training objectives.
Military exercises form part of Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) annual training plans and programmes.
The practical demonstration was attended by several Senior Officers of SAF and the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. It was also attended by the Military Attaché of Pakistan’s Embassy in Muscat and several RAO personnel.
The joint Oman-Pakistan military exercise “Washaq Al Jabal 1” or “Mountain Lynx 1” began on 13 October at the military training area in Al Jabal Al Akhdar. The drill is carried out by the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), units from the Army of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO).
The drill, which concluded on 21 October 2024, includes a range of military obstacles and joint training activities. Moreover, the drill aims to sustain combat and operational preparedness of ROA personal, as well as exchange expertise with friendly countries.
In another development, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) received in his office at Al Murtafa’a Garrison Sunday the Commander of the French Forces in the Indian Ocean and the military delegation accompanying him.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed several military matters of mutual interest.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Hamid Abdullah Al Balushi, SAF Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning, senior COSAF officers and the military attaché to the Embassy of the French Republic in Muscat.
The French guest and the military delegation accompanying him also visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC).
Upon their arrival at the MSC, they were greeted by the Acting Head of the MSC and were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment. They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.
