Y1B Satellite Handed over to Yahsat

Astrium and Thales Alenia Space, Europe’s leading space companies, have successfully completed the in-orbit testing of the Y1B satellite, conducted from the Yahsat control centre in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Yahsat CEO Tareq Abdulraheem Al Hosani said: “I am pleased with the work carried out by Astrium and Thales Alenia Space in the in-orbit delivery of our second satellite.”
Y1B is now ready to provide operational communications services for commercial and governmental clients with its Ka-band multi-beam technology.
Y1B offers state of the art secure communications and high throughput broadband solutions to its customers in the Middle East, Africa, South-West and Central Asia.
Astrium and Thales Alenia Space are co-prime contractors of the Yahsat Turn Key Contract.
Y1A and Y1B satellites are built on Astrium Eurostar E3000 platforms with telecommunication payloads from Thales Alenia Space.
