GCC Air Force & Air Defense Commanders Hold 27th Meeting in Doha

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Air Force and Air Defense Commanders of the Armed Forces held their 27th meeting in Doha, State of Qatar, earlier this week.

Also taking part in the meeting were the representative of military affairs at the GCC General Secretariat, and the representative of the Unified Military Command, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The meeting dealt with issues related to joint Gulf military action concerning the air force and air defense of the armed forces in the GCC states. Such coordination is meant to bolster joint Gulf military action, achieve air and defense integration among the GCC states, and advance joint Gulf military cooperation and coordination.

The six GCC states include Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.

In another development, the Gulf Cooperation Council’s Common Market Committee held its 37th meeting in the Saudi Capital Riyadh Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the GCC countries, the Council’s Secretariat General, national statistics centers, and member states’ chambers of commerce.

Participants discussed a number of topics, including the resolutions of the GCC Higher Council of the 43rd meeting in December 2022 and the resolutions of the GCC Economic and Financial Cooperation Committee regarding the implementation of the common Gulf market.

Participants reviewed a study on the digital transition strategy in the common Gulf market, which aims at formulating a unified framework for digital transition.

Members of the Committee discussed a media campaign to explain the benefits of establishing a common Gulf market and the gains realized by GCC membership.

The Committee also reviewed amendments to the charter of the common Gulf market and was briefed by the GCC Statistical Center on the survey it is conducting on the third stage of the assessment of the implementation of the GCC common market tracks.
