Bahrain’s Defense Chief Receives GCC Military Commander

Bahrain Defense Force (BDF) Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa received Lt-General Eid bin Awwad Al Shulaiwi the Commander of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Unified Military Command, in presence of Defense Affairs Minister Lt-General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, and Chief-of-Staff Dhiab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi.

The BDF Commander-in-Chief praised the good efforts being exerted by the GCC Unified Military Command in consolidating the shared goal and destiny of the GCC countries, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

BDF General Command HQs’ Director Major-General Hassan Mohamed Saad, Military Cooperation’s Director Naval Major-General Hashim Al Sada, and Assistant Chief-of-Staff for Operations Major-General Ghanim Ibrahim Al Fodhala, were also present.

For his part, Bahrain’s Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received in Manama the Director of the GCC Police Force, Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Khaili. 

The Interior Minister welcomed the GCC official, highlighting the importance of the GCC Police Force in linking regional security and police authorities, through joint database and contribution towards crime prevention and fighting.

In addition, both parties explored regional and international partnership by coordinating with related organizations.

The Minister said that the force’s tasks help in actively dealing with security challenges and rapid changes in fighting organized and cross border crimes. 

The Minister was briefed about the programs and projects of the force and efforts to enhance performance to back the Gulf security information system in fighting terrorism and organized crimes to ensure regional security. 

The meeting reviewed various security topics of common interest, including the reinforcement of cooperation and coordination in security work to build on the previous achievements to face common challenges.

Deputy Chief of Public Security attended the meeting.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Chief of Public Security and the Director General of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security.
