Bahrain’s King Receives Departing US Fifth Fleet Commander

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received at Sakhir Palace Monday Vice Admiral Charles B. Cooper II, the Commander of US Naval Forces Central Command, Commander of the United States Fifth Fleet, and Commander of Combined Maritime Forces, to mark the end of his tenure.

His Majesty expressed pride in the historical relationship and close partnership with the United States, underscored by trust, respect, and joint coordination.

HM King commended the continuous progress of bilateral cooperation, particularly in military coordination to achieve shared goals; noting the efforts of the commander in this regard.

The meeting reviewed the latest regional and international developments, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

His Majesty emphasised the Kingdom’s appreciation for the crucial role of the United States and other allies in ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation and trade in the region and international corridors, and addressing potential threats.

His Majesty the King awarded the first-class Order of Bahrain to Vice Admiral Charles B. Cooper II, in recognition of his role in further developing Bahraini-American relations.

Vice Admiral Cooper expressed appreciation to His Majesty for awarding him the first-class Order of Bahrain.

He commended HM King’s efforts in further enhancing the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US, and Bahrain’s vital role as a partner in promoting efforts to maintain stability and regional peace.
