Frogmen in the Royal Jordanian Navy (RJN) and Royal Boats Command carried out a joint training drill with the friendly U.S. side, as part of the activities of the joint naval exercise ‘Infinite Defender 2023.’

The training session featured operational diving with Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) and Shark Marine equipment in the operations area, as well as building and detonating underwater explosions and simulated and real mine construction operations using underwater cameras (ROV), according to a RJN statement.

The two-day training aims to exchange Jordan-U.S. expertise in the areas of planning, command and control, and develop the participants' capabilities in the training field and raise level of their combat competencies, the statement noted.

Meanwhile, the 12th Yarmouk Mechanized Brigade, a northern military region formation, on Tuesday carried out a night drill, dubbed “Fursan al-Maidan” or Knights of the Field, in a designated training area, Petra news agency reported.

The drill included carrying out a night attack to combat an enemy force using medium and heavy weapons and tank drills. It aims at testing the competency and combat readiness of troops in carrying out night and defensive exposure operations and administrative tasks, developing the troops’ combat capabilities and skills, in addition to qualifying and training them to work under various circumstances and times.

In another development, the Eastern Military Region on Wednesday shot down a drone loaded with TNT explosives coming from the Syrian territories.

An official military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army said: “The Border Guard forces, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and the military security services, detected an unmanned drone attempting to illegally cross the border from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory.”

The source added that the Royal Engineering Corps dealt with the drone, which fell down onto Jordanian territory.

He stressed that the Jordan Armed Forces will continue to strike with an iron fist at any threat on the borders and any endeavors intended to undermine and destabilize the security of the Kingdom and terrorize its citizens.
