His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, attended a Ramadan meal Monday, hosted by the General Command of JAF.

Prior to the iftar, His Majesty, accompanied by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti, inaugurated the Military Media Directorate’s Military Documentation Centre, which houses thousands of JAF documents.

The King listened to a briefing on the Centre and its sections documenting JAF battles and participation in peacekeeping and counter-terrorism operations.

The King and the attendees also performed the maghreb prayer, Petra news agency reported.

His Majesty congratulated all army and security agencies personnel on the holy month of Ramadan and the 69th anniversary of the Arabisation of the leadership of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, expressing pride in their dedication and discipline.

General Intelligence Department Director Major General Ahmad Husni, Public Security Directorate Director Major General Obeidallah Maaytah, and a number of army and security agencies personnel attended the iftar.

In another development, Jordanian Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya visited the Jaber border crossing with Syria on Monday.

In a post on his offical X account, Faraya noted the active freight movement at the border and affirmed that cooperation and coordination with Syrian counterparts are at their best.

He added that JD3.7 million (US$ 5.2 million) have been allocated this year to develop the border's facilities, including improving yards and enhancing certain logistical services as part of a comprehensive development plan for the crossing.

Faraya estimated that more than 44,000 Syrians have voluntarily returned to their homeland.
