Saudi-Omani Joint Military Exercise “Solidarity 1” Concludes

The Saudi-Omani Joint Military Exercise “Solidarity 1” concluded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Wednesday.

The drill saw the participation of a force from Oman Coast Regiment of the 23rd Infantry Brigade, Royal Army of Oman (RAO), and a force from the 2nd regiment of the 20th Brigade of the Royal Saudi Land Forces.

Implementation of the drill was part of a training plan adopted by the RAO to maintain a high level of performance and the combat ability of its units.

It was also in pursuance of an annual training programme implemented in cooperation with GCC, Arab and friendly countries to serve the overall national objectives, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

The activities of the joint Omani-Saudi military drill “Solidarity 1” kicked off on 16 December and included the implementation of several joint military plans and field training.

In another development, Major General Hamid Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of Oman’s Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies received, in his office at Bait Al Falaj Camp on Tuesday, Professor Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of the National Defense University of the Republic of Türkiye and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides exchanged talks on several matters of common interest pertaining to academic aspects.

The meeting was attended by Senior Officers at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies and the Military Attaché at the Turkish Embassy in Muscat.

On Wednesday, the Turkish delegation visited the Maritime Security Center (MSC) where they were greeted by Commodore Adil Hamoud Al Busaidi, Head of the MSC.

Members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment. They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.

Lastly, the Turkish delegation also toured the Military Technological College (MTC) where they were received by its Acting Commandant and briefed about the College.
