Joint Saudi-Omani Military Drill ‘Solidarity/1’ Kicks Off

The activities of the joint Omani-Saudi military drill “Solidarity/1” kicked off Monday in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The drill, which will be ongoing till 26 December 2024, is participated by a force from Oman Coast Regiment of the 23rd Infantry Brigade of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO). From the Saudi side it is participated by a force from the 2nd Regiment of the 20th Brigade.

Solidarity/1 includes the implementation of several joint military plans and field training, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Conducting the drill comes within the framework of the RAO training plans to exchange expertise and enhance military cooperation between Oman and Arab and friendly countries.

In another development, General Sultan Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Oman’s Minister of the Royal Office received in his office Monday Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his accompanying military delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides highlighted the historic relations between Oman and Pakistan. They also explored means of enhancing bilateral relations to serve joint interests.

The meeting was attended by the Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO).

Afterwards, the Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan and his accompanying military delegation visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC).

The delegation was greeted upon their arrival at the MSC by Commodore Adil Hamoud Al Busaidi, Head of the MSC.

Members of the visiting delegation were briefed on the tactical roles and tasks carried out by the Centre in the safety of the Omani maritime environment.

They also toured the Centre’s facilities and viewed its latest equipment and technologies used in carrying out its national duties.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies also received at the College’s headquarters in Bait Al Falaj Garrison Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and his accompanying military delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed several military matters of common interest. Moreover, the guests were briefed about the NDC and its facilities. They also toured its various departments.

The meeting was attended by several senior officers of the NDC at the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies and the Military Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan in Muscat.
