Jordanian Army Chief Receives Saudi Military Delegation, Syrian Defense Minister

Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmed Huneiti, on Sunday received a Saudi military delegation, headed by Chief of Operations of the Saudi Armed Forces, Major General Misfer bin Suwailem Ghanim, and the accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed aspects of joint cooperation and coordination in various military operational, training and logistical fields.

Both sides also went over the latest developments on the regional and international arenas to serve interests of the two brotherly countries’ Armed Forces, according to an Army statement.

Meanwhile, Ghanim praised the modernization and development steps implemented by Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army and their “pivotal” role in maintaining security and stability in the region.

A number of senior JAF officers and the Saudi Military Attaché in Amman attended the meeting.

The Chairman of the Jordanian Joint Chiefs of Staff also discussed with Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra, ways to enhance bilateral relations and prospects for joint security and military cooperation.

Huneiti stressed the need for joint action to confront the various challenges facing the two countries' border region.

During a meeting in Amman last Tuesday (photo), the Jordanian Army Chief affirmed the readiness of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) to harness its various capabilities and capacities to contribute to achieving the region’s security and stability and enhancing the two brotherly countries’ national security.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Defense Minister expressed the “deep-rooted, historic” bilateral relations, expressing his country’s commitment to achieve “close” collaboration with Jordan.
